Redesign of the National Archaeological Museum app
The challenge
The National Archaeological Museum already had an app to accompany the visit, but wanted to optimise it: smoother, easier to use and working well on any phone.
What I did
- Redesign in Figma. I rethought the interface and navigation, and built a clickable prototype that the museum used to validate the proposal before development.
- Built as a PWA. Once validated, I built the app as a progressive web app in HTML, CSS and JavaScript: it opens from the browser, with no app store, and behaves like a native app.
- Tours and object pages. Themed tours (“33 essentials”, Prehistory…) with their duration, a page for each object with gallery and audio guide, search by number and gallery maps.
- Accessibility. Text size controls, a sign language option on the tours and a language selector.
Outcome
- App live and in use by the museum’s visitors.
- Smoother and lighter, available from the visitor’s browser with nothing to install.
- A design validated with the museum before development, reducing changes and rework during the build.
