Multi-format web design and development for magazines
The challenge
Hearst Magazines, publisher of titles such as Fotogramas, needed to bring its magazines to the web and adapt them to new formats (desktop, tablet and mobile) during the shift from print and Flash to responsive design, while keeping up with a publisher’s pace.
What I did
- Website redesigns. I redesigned and built multi-format web projects for the magazines, adapting them to desktop, tablet and mobile.
- Newsletters and banners. I built and optimised newsletters, banners and interactive content, first in ActionScript and later in HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Technical coordination. I coordinated frontend developers, handling code review, task allocation and technical decisions while still coding.
Outcome
- 8 years supporting a major publisher’s digital transition, from Flash to responsive design.
- Websites and digital pieces adapted to every format, each with its magazine’s identity.
